Mursi tribe of the Omo

The Mursi tribe is part of a uniquely culturally diverse region in Ethiopia called “The Lower Omo Valley”. They are located in the Mago National Park in southwestern Ethiopia, some 770 km from the capital city of Addis Ababa. The Mursi are a nomadic cattle herder ethnic group with an estimated population of 6000. The Mursi women are famous for wearing clay plates inserted in their lower lips.
